J-Bo had his routine check up at the orthopaedic doctor. It was such a fun challange getting the xrays done, he is such a wiggler & you know you need lay still for the best shots. Well the xrays show that all is good. He was a little crooked but that is because he wouldn’t keep his head up or his legs straight. But, his spine and hips are great. No curvature in the spine or slippage in his joints. I am so happy. With his cerebral palsy I am always worried about his hip joints slipping out. Thank you God for keeping him in good shape!!!
Bones all good

Posted in Jakob's World on January 16, 2012 by teamlittlejakeLittle Man tried his best to ride his cousin Sawyer’s toy but it rode him instead. LOL!
Christmas was great and so far this year is going good for us. I have one major obstacle to overcome and once that is done all should be good.
I think it is time to change Little Man’s nickname. He is growing so fast that Little just doesn’t fit him anymore. His therapist have started calling him J-Bo which sounds so cool. So now he will be called J-Bo.
I am praying for my friends and family this year. My friend Debbie’s daughter Maddie has been through a rough battle that she is winning. She spent the holidays in the hospital but has finally come home. Prayers are that she continues to get better and stronger. Another friend Darlene’s granddaugher is a true miracle-Kinley overcame the odds and came out on top of what could have been a devastating end result. God’s blessings are great!!!
My continuining prayers also go out to my Mom’s boyfriend, Joe that he will heal and be able to come home.
This year is full of prayers, blessing and all around Wonderful things to come!!!!!!

He did pretty good on his own and it was great to see him do this. I can’t wait till Christmas morning when he opens his other gifts. He is such a treat. He got extremely excited just opening this one, to him every thing is exciting and new. I love this innocence about him.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!1
Update of Adventures
Posted in Jakob's World with tags bible doctrine, cerebral palsy, charity, jake, Jakob, prematurity, special needs, TeamLittleJake on November 20, 2011 by teamlittlejakeWell as I mentioned before, Little Man was invited to go hunting with a wonderful organization called United Special Sportsman Association. We went, we hunted, we had a great time. This was an all around great trip. We ventured to new places, met some new people and made several new & lasting friendships. I did get to find some letterboxes in some great places that we might have missed otherwise. I talked about it to the familes we met and got them interested in it to. We stayed at a church camp, was fed great meals by some wonderful people. I hung out the Moms while Travis, Little Man and our volunteer guides Sarah & Lynn went hunting. All the kids were so excited about hunting, Little Man would be wound up at night, sleepy in the morning but ready to go hunting. There were 12 hunters in all & 5 deers killed. Little Man had the talkies when it was time for the deer to move but he had fun being out there with his daddy. Our adventures included in this hunting trip was to go on a ferry across the Ohio River, travel slowly down a two lane road behind 4 Amish buggys & drive through a Bison & Elk Prarie. It was a memorable trip that we hope to do again.
Little Man was invited and went to a Princess Tea Party at Shorter College in Rome. He was a mini Prince Charming. Some students from Shorter dressed as the Disney Princesses & Prince Charmings & hosted a lively tea for several young people. They danced, singed, made crafts & each child received a gift bag. Little Man danced with his friend Emmie & Princess Ariel. Two of the girls from my Focused on Abilities Girl Scout Troup also went. All the kids had a blast.
I think that is most of the adventuring we have done lately besides dressing up for Halloween. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas, the sounds, the family & friends and the fun. I know I say it each time, but I will try to make myself get better at updates.
Everyone have a Blessed and Happy Holiday Season!!!
Trip of Lifetime
Posted in Jakob's World on October 16, 2011 by teamlittlejakeLittle Man is getting the chance to go on a adaptive deer hunt in Southern Illinois in the Shawntee National Forest. Childswish.com is taking 12 families our included on a four day deer hunt. The hunt is adapted for our children with special needs. We are so excited about this trip. Travis is an avid hunter and really wanted to take Jake but with his disability that isn’t possible here. This organization makes that possible for all kids. Hopefully I will have lots of photos to post & even possibly a video too. Keeping with me, I will try my best to do some letterboxing while we’re up there. When will I ever have the opportunity to go this way again?
More about this after it happens or maybe even during it depending on the connection availability.
Later. By the way the trip is the last week of October.

Bowling
Posted in Jakob's World with tags bowling, cerebral palsy, grace, jake, Jakob, special needs, TeamLittleJake, wheelchair on August 19, 2011 by teamlittlejakeWell Little Man has started bowling season again. He loves to bowl and missed the last time because of the leg surgery. He is a true bowler, rolling it down the ramp with out the assistance of bumpers. He had a good night and we look forward to next week. He will be bowling the day before his 9th birthday–whoo hoo he is growing up!!
What’s been going on…..
Posted in Jakob's World with tags bowling, cerebral palsy, charity, girl scouts, grace, jake, Jakob, letterboxing, special needs on August 2, 2011 by teamlittlejakeWell what has been going on, so much but not enough to overwhelm you
Little Man has been somewhat busy or at least mommy has LOL! We had a good summer, keeping up with therapy, swimming & an adventure here and there.
We went for a couple of days to Maggie Valley, NC to explore & visit Catalooche Valley which is right down the road. We got to see some huge elk & luckly we did get a brief peek at a mama bear & her three cubs. They were wandering along the tree line in the valley. When we get another camper we are definitely going to have to stay at the campground in Catalooche Valley. We attempted to go down a trail to see a historic homesite and actually managed to get Little Man’s wheelchair quite a distance down the trail even crossing the creek one time but at the second creek crossing the path turned into another creek so our journey ended. We found some letterboxes while in Maggie Valley & the nearby town. The weather was so much cooler that so it was fun. We were hoping to take Little Man to Ghost Town but apparently it has closed down for good-such a shame, that was a great adventure.
Little Man got to go to camp this year. He went to Camp New Adventure for a week. He absolutely loves this camp because he gets to spend time with his friends, swim everyday & make neat crafts. If he could tell me I bet he would have had a story to tell everyday-he was always wound up & excited each day.
I have just started a Girl Scout troop for girls with special needs. I have 4 girls so far & we are so excited about what’s to come. I know you’re wondering why am I doing girl scouts when I have boys, do I need say more LOL! I love working/bonding with girls and look forward to the great adventures that we will be exploring. Of course I will be introducing them to letterboxing. I can’t wait to help them pick a design and carve their stamps. I can see the excitement already when they find a box. It will be great. I am hoping to get sponsors to help buy things for the girls because some of them are low income but I don’t want them to miss out.
Little Man starts bowling league this week. He missed out last time because of the leg surgery which he recouped from wonderfully. I am hoping my niece, Willow, will be his partner. He loves to bowl.
Well that is about it for now except Little Man’s birthday is coming up soon. I think we are going to take him somewhere this year and do a big celebration next year since it will be the big “10″. Where do all the years go???? Trey will be “21″ next year.. Time is flying tooooooo fast!
More to come & I will try to make myself update more often.
Later!
March for Babies

Posted in Jakob's World with tags cerebral palsy, driving, grace, jake, Jakob, non-profit, prematurity, special needs, wheelchair on January 26, 2011 by teamlittlejakeWell got Jake up and ready in the early hours this morning to get to the dentist in Atlanta by 9am. Despite the rain, all seemed to be going pretty good. Jake was a little grouchy-too early for him & having to sit sort of upright bothered him some. Like I said all seem to be going good until-BAM! I got rear-ended at a redlight. Fortunately, Jake wasn’t hurt and my vehicle suffered minimal damage. The guy wasn’t paying much attention and thankfully he wasn’t farther away to cause some serious injuries. Needless to say we were late for the appointment.
The appointment went great but Jake has 3 cavities, all in the back on his molars. That is the hardest area for me to brush-I can get his front teeth but he bites on the toothbrush when I try the back. Guess I will have to trick him to get to the back. We have to go back next week and get those fixed. I pray this will be all and it goes as good as todays procedure.
Time to see if he is ready to eat. Later.
