We talked about the shapes, with me using his pointer finger to trace the different shapes as I said what they were. As we did this I also told him the colors. After each of us did this with our kids, Erika asked the kids questions like “Who has a green shape?”, “Can you find your circle and what color is it?” She also went to each child, turning the box around, removing and hiding one of the shapes and then asking them what was missing. Jake did pretty good at answering when given choices. He also did good at picking the correct color when given choices. He is really smart at things like this.
He rolled really good today, going all the way across the room and partway back. He was in a sing song mood today. I have him on video doing some singing today. He was like a camera hog, when I turned the camera off, he got mad, so I set it up like I was still recording and he started grinning again.
I got a picture of him yesterday working at pulling his sock off. With my help he has a hold on his leg, but didn’t have his other hand down to pull the sock off.
He did a wonderful job today sitting on the stool and holding onto the ladder with no assistance from me. He sat patiently while the others were getting ready. He earned a big sticker for that!
I tried a Z-Vibe with him today–not good. It is an oral vibrating tool to help children with biting, jaw strength and lip closure. He doesn’t like vibrating toothbrushes but this is a milder vibration. NOPE! It still didn’t work. He pitched a fit when I put it in his mouth. There isn’t much that really bothers Jake like that, but apparently he is not a big fan of vibrations. Glad I tried it before we bought one.
The rest of the day was good. We came home, had lunch then ventured out letterboxing. We went looking for about 5, but only found 1. Two were missing, one was too near a street vendor and two were in a location with too many people nearby. Oh well, we will try again later.
Time to finish up my clothes–I love doing laundry
Yeah right!
Later

Great job Jakob! But am I going to have to get a camera to get you to sing for me?!
Tell mom not to completely give up yet on the ZVibe. We have them in Calhoun and we can work on loving the vibration while we play with the fun attachments…have you tried the animal heads or lollipop attachments? WAY cool, dude!
We miss you sweet boy. See you soon!!
Heather
Dear Team Jake,
Heather’s right – don’t give up just yet! Sometimes it takes time to introduce the Z-Vibe, but the potential benefits are very much worth the effort. Debbie (the SLP behind the Z-Vibe) wrote a post on this issue today: http://arktherapeutic.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/qa-vibration-with-the-z-vibe/
