Weekend Adventures
Trey, Jakob and I decided to have a letterboxing day Saturday. We planned to get some boxes in Dalton since it is nearby and to do some first aid on a few of ours. So we got everything together, ate lunch and headed out. We replaced the box in Resaca–the other leaked too much. I used a lock-lock box, hope it works better. We also used a lock-lock box to replace and replant the box at New Echota cemetary. We also put in our 3rd logbook for the Adairsville box. We actually managed to find two out four of the Dalton letterboxes, which we thought was pretty good. Of course we did gain memories of our adventure–Trey has a new sleeve of poison ivy while I have a new anklet. Allergic as I may be, I still don’t pay attention as I should. I know, I know, how dumb! I was more concerned with the rainy forest then what type of plants I was walking through. Needless to say, we have the prettiest pink lotion on us.
On Sunday we decided to head out to Kodak, TN to the Bass Pro Shop, so Travis could wander around and dream.
Of course, I printed out some LB clues in the hopes that we would be able to get a few while we were there. Travis and I pack up the boys and head out for a day of family fun, my trusty letterboxing bag loaded and in the back of the van. We took our time and finally made it to the Bass Pro Shop. It is a really neat place–I love the decor, all the wildlife and the waterfalls. I also collect the elongated pennies that each place has. Jake walked around in his walker and did a great job. He didn’t run over anybody or anything. He even walked over a little hill they have in the shoe department.
When we finished roaming around the store, we decided to do some letterboxing. Great–but when we got outside the sky had turned an ugly color. Less then 10 minutes after getting in the van, the bottom fell out–not just rain but thunder and lightening. Since we couldn’t do the letterboxing we still decided to drive by and get an idea of where they were so the next time we could have a head start. The perticular boxes we were heading for were located at Douglas Dam, which is a very nice place. You can even camp along the river near the dam. As we were driving down the road to find the entrance to the dam, we passed a really neat store. The name says it all.
Is that not cool or what? Can you imagine when someone asks where you’re going, you can say “I am going to The Dam Store” and not be cussing? Funny, huh?? Couldn’t resist sharing this with you.
Later.
